She was born in Delhi and completed her schooling there. She moved to Mumbai in 1997 and started her career with ad films and Hindi music video albums.

Her first feature film Yuvakudu in Telugu was released in the year 2000. Her second film Khushi with Pavan Kalyan was a super hit in Telugu for which she won the "Best Actress Award". But the Hindi version of the film starring Kareena Kapoor and Fardeen Khan sank. She has so far done five films in Telugu and one in Tamil.
Bhoomika debuted in Bollywood with Tere Naam opposite Salman Khan, the highest grosser in 2003, which made her the hottest stuff of the Tinsel World.
